Cr6 research and laboratory analysis

Chromate detection, measurement and laboratory analysis

We offer on-site investigations to determine whether an object contains chromate (hexavalent chromium compounds).

Detection

Methods

For this purpose we use a range of detection methods:

  • the speed test developed for our analysis purposes by a Dutch laboratory
  • wipe tests, evaluated on site in a mobile laboratory or sent to stationary laboratories
  • air measurements by prescribed methods, for example the German “method for the determination of hexavalent chromium” (DGUV Information 213-505), or laboratory evaluation based on the Dutch NEN 5617:2022

In air measurements, breathing air at the workplace is sampled over several hours using a filter pump worn on the body; the filter membranes are analysed in affiliated laboratories, with equipment recommended or prescribed by the insurance institutions and occupational safety authorities.

Analysis and disposal

Exposure analysis and measures

Exposure analysis

Exposure study under NEN 689

The exposure study under NEN 689 is a standardised Dutch method for measuring exposure to hazardous substances and other risk factors at the workplace.

Whether the contamination stems from calcium-containing insulation or from steel coatings with chromate-containing paints and varnishes, the Chromate Experts analyse, provide the necessary evidence and know how the contaminated objects must be decontaminated or disposed of.

Disposal

EWC code

We determine the EWC codes (European Waste Catalogue, in German EURAL), i.e. the exact classification of the waste under the European List of Waste.

We provide full transparency and documentation of the process, so that you keep control of and insight into the disposal of your waste.
